The comment box is below πŸ‘‡, tell Ghanaians your idea about this issue.

The Cape Coast High Court has eventually granted to resign the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Assin North, Honorable Gyakye Quarson due to some issue within the Parliamentary polls in his Constituency.

The NDC MP- elect for Assin North James Gyakye Quayson was sued allegedly for holding Canadian citizenship. According to the petitioner, Mr Quayson owes allegiance to both Ghana and Canada which contravenes the provision of Article 94 (2) (a) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

This means that the NDC will lose one MP because the country' s parliament prepares to transition to the 8th parliament.

The supreme court injunction on this issue makes the National Democratic Congress(NDC) ready to inaugurate 136 MPs- elect as against New Patriotic Party(NPP)' s 137, meaning NPP is before NDC for the Parliamentary seats throughout all collation centers.

High Court said, "Honorable Gyakye Quayson have been restrained from holding himself out as Member of Parliament- elect for the Assin North constituency within the Central Region of the Republic of Ghana and further presenting himself to be sworn in as Member of Parliament- elect intrinsically until the ultimate determination of the petition. "

This secret was Revealed after Honorable Gyakye Quarson and his colleague MP was arguing in Accra High Court for the winner of the 2020 Assin North Parliamentary polls and as it' s already been declared, Honorable Gyakye Quarson cannot be clarify as a Member of Parliament for the National Democratic Congress because he has nationalize to be a Canadian although he is Ghanaian.
